BÅALMALDAHKESNE - ENTWINED
The literal translation of Båalmaldahkesne is to be entwined, as two braids that have been joined together. The album sets out to explore how our lives are braided into the weft of the cultures that we belong to. The album’s ten tracks each tell a story of how our lives are being actively intertwined and woven into each other. Families, children, each and every relation that together foster a sense of belonging and unity, thus giving life and strength to pass on our heritage to future generations.

THE REINDEER CARAVAN
This album becomes an offering of thanks to nature itself, the reindeer and all ancestors who have carefully traversed these lands before us. These are stories stemming from a time Marja herself has not lived through, but through her commitment to the Saami oral tradition, the yoik and the South Saami language, she is passing on her people’s traditions to future generations. Raajroe – The Reindeer Caravan offers a youthful interpretation of a tradition ranging all the way back to the very first time humans started to follow in the footsteps of migrating reindeer.
LÅÅJE - DAWN
Mortensson’s and Herskedal’s music transcends borders. As such, their music moves effortlessly through the borderlands between South and Ume Saami yoik melodies, where it finds itself swinging back and forth between tradition and the musical compositions of classical string quartets. The melodies imitate standing stones, carefully rooted menhirs, who guide the listener from the gravity and melancholy of a planet finally speaking up against our treatment of her, to the playful yoik melodies associated with woodpeckers and ptarmigans.
